One of Boxing's hardest punchers and new stars takes on another tough challenge in this spectacular fight that's been flying under the radar. Sergey "The Crusher" Kovalev will take his devastating punching power to the squared circle once again as he takes on the slick, tough, Jean Pascal. Kovalev will look to expand his undefeated record, and gain some more steam since coming off his huge obliteration of Bernard Hopkins. Jean Pascal wants to end the Kovalev hype. Pascal will look to be the reigning king of the light heavyweight division by beating one of the most feared men in boxing.

Jean Pascal has been training under Roy Jones Jr, and looked superb in taking out Lucian Bute. Pascal has the speed and footwork advantage in this fight. He's going to have to use it to perfection if he has any chance in pulling the huge upset here. He can hit Kovalev with some big shots if he can use that speed to his advantage. While aggressive, Kovalev does a pretty good job at moving his head side to side when he can see punches coming. Pascal can't afford to stay in front of Kovalev for too long, which sometimes he does. He's going to have to put on a perfect boxing display by moving and trying to time Kovalev's pressure with his cross down the middle or by looping it over the top. It's not going to be easy against a guy that averages 80 punches per round. If he can fluster Kovalev with counters and movement, he has a chance.

Sergey Kovalev destroyed one of the most complicated boxer's in the game when he battered Bernard Hopkins over twelve rounds last fall. Pascal isn't going to prove to be nearly as hard to track down. However, Pascal is fast, and he hits hard. Kovalev is going to have to be careful when he presses forward. One of the most overlooked things about Kovalev is his jab and defense. He is very good at keeping the distance he wants to avoid counter shots. His punches are devastating. Pascal faded late against Bute and Kovalev is going to have to apply that pressure again to beat Pascal. Kovalev is a combination puncher and if he can land some big shots early there is a good chance he can get Pascal out of there. Sometimes Pascal likes to trade blow for blow. This is something that Kovalev will try to expose. Kovalev's power and pressure should be the big difference in this match.
